A really inspiring read about the power of local support and why it matters…
Could you tell us more about the services Manchester Mind offers?
At Manchester Mind, our purpose is simple – we want to make it easier to ask for help.
We believe everyone deserves the right support for their mental health, and we’re proud to play a part in making that happen. None of it would be possible without our brilliant staff and volunteers, who work hard to make sure people feel listened to and involved.
Manchester Mind is one of over 100 Local Mind Associations. We’re proud members of the national network, but still an independent charity, which means we raise all our own funds. Last year, more than 11,000 people reached out to us for support, information, advice and training from us – we need £3 million each year to keep everything running.
Here are some of the ways we help:
How can people access that support?
If you’re reaching out for the first time and aren’t sure where to start, just give us a call or drop us an email. Our friendly team will listen, talk things through with you and help connect you to the right support.

We’ll be glad to point you in the right direction.
What do you most want people to know about what you do?
While most people know us for our mental health services, we also work with organisations across Manchester to build healthier, happier workplaces. We know that mental health at work can’t just be swept under the rug or treated like a tick-box exercise. That’s why we partner with local businesses to deliver employer training, share resources and build real, meaningful change. If you’d like to find out more, you can get in touch or sign up for our Manchester Mind at Work newsletter for free resources and updates.
How can people support you in the work that you’re doing?
This year is a big one for us. After 35 years in Hulme, we’re moving to a new home right in the city-centre!
We are excited to relocate to a more accessible space, so that we can support even more people. Demand has soared, especially after the pandemic, we experienced a 23% increase in people reaching out compared to the year before. This new home means that we can support all those people and more.
That’s where we need your help, to raise vital funds to make a welcoming new home for Manchester Mind. Whether it’s a small gift or a larger donation, every contribution will help us continue being there for people now and in the future.
