“I set up Burton Road Events in 2022, as we were coming out of the pandemic and all desperately needing to (re)connect with one another again.
Community connection has never been more important and my goal is to create as many spaces as possible where you can meet people near you in Didsbury and Withington.
A host is there to greet you at every event and help you get settled in. If you have any questions, or a request to help you feel more comfortable, then please get in touch!”

We want to help you get to know the people and places in our local South Manchester community. Whatever age or stage of life you’re at, we really hope you’ll find an event that feels right for you.
We have socials for those looking to make more friends, networking if you’re looking to expand your work circle and singles nights for those looking for that special someone.
Our events are all hosted in local independents along Burton Road, so that we can also introduce you to some fabulous places to go out in the future – knowing that you’ll be supporting the people and places in our community.
EVERYONE feels lonely sometimes! That is so completely normal, we just don’t really talk about it. Our events are all about creating safe spaces for people to meet and connect.
If you have any questions before coming along to an event, please do reach out at burton.road.network@gmail.com or @burton_road

Yes! The vast majority of people come to our events by themselves and we do everything we can to make you feel relaxed and comfortable. The host will greet you and help you get settled into the event, showing you where everything is.
At our socials and singles nights, we have conversation cards for when guests first arrive to help you get to know everyone. We then segue into a quiz and games so there’s always something to do / chat about.
We run events along Burton Road which connects Didsbury and Withington in South Manchester.
Jo founded the business in January 2022, as we were coming out of the pandemic. It started off with the networking series to connect local business owners and help everyone come together again. She lives in Didsbury and still runs the events series there, as well as many of the singles nights.
Jo’s been running events for years but also has a background in freelance journalism and marketing support. She still helps local businesses with their marketing to help them connect with their community.
Whatever makes you feel most comfortable and confident! Our events are fairly relaxed but that’s not to say you can’t go ‘all in’ if that’s what makes you feel good – we will always celebrate that. This is Manchester, so the one thing we’d always suggest is… layers! (Oh and perhaps have a brolly with you too.)
If you’ve got an idea for an event or would like to collaborate then please do get in touch! We’re particularly keen to work with more independently owned venues in South Manchester, so if that’s you then please get in touch at burton.road.network@gmail.com
