Great Questions to Ask at Singles Nights
Don’t be afraid of small talk! It gets a bad rep but these questions can be a useful starting point…
– Where are you from?
– What do you do?
– How long have you lived here?
Active listening can help create common ground even here! Just be ready to go deeper…
– What do you do outside of work?
– Where would you like to travel next?
– Why did you choose the job you do?
And then, the question you really want the answers to…
We wouldn’t recommend opening with this too early but if there’s a vibe you may want to ask:
– What tempted you to come along tonight?
– Do you know what you’re looking for at the moment?
– What would a great first date look like for you?
And then the left field…
– What were your hobbies as a kid?
– Do you have a comfort film/ song?
– Most embarrassing thing you’ve ever done?
These are the things that will really help you get to know someone. But then there’s also…
The questions that are personal to you. So, before coming, YOU need to ask yourself:
– What are my values?
– What are my deal breakers?
– What am I looking for?
This should have a big impact on the questions you ask!
For example… I would ask:
– Do you have any siblings? (And then build up to: are you close with your family?)
– What was the last book you read?
– Where’s on your bucket list to travel?
Yours will be totally different of course, but…
It’s important that you ask questions that are going to help you start understanding if someone is a potential match!
