FOLK is one of the most famous bars along Burton Road. With it’s welcoming fairy lights, veranda, great music and eclectic selection of food and drink, it’s no surprise that it’s a firm favourite with many. But, did you know that it’s now a year since it’s been under new management and independently run by four mates?
Rachel Caulfield, Co-Owner of FOLK enthuses, “We have loved being part of the welcoming community this past year in West Didsbury, and we have enjoyed transforming FOLK into a fresh neighbourhood space. We look forward to welcoming new folk through our doors to try the new menu out.”
So, what’s cooking?
FOLK was born out of a love of fresh seasonal produce, tasty coffee, beers, cocktails and wine. The menu changes every couple of months to reflect what is in season; plus specials which change every fortnight to keep things fresh. This month shows the launch of their new menu designed by Head Chef, Michael Moroney. Brunch is served daily from 10am until 3pm, followed by a day menu, serving mains, sides and small plates from 12pm.
Andy Jane, co-owner of FOLK, explains, “we’re a neighbourhood bar that serves great food, drink and hospitality to families, couples, groups of friends and everyone in between. The response from the locals has been incredible.”
Do they know it’s 🎅 🦃🍷🍮🎄 time?
Get the date in your diaries: from Thursday 1st December until Saturday 31st December, FOLK will be serving a Christmas menu (from 2pm on Mondays to Saturdays, and from 1pm on Sundays.) Three-courses is £32 per person and two-courses is £27 per person. The Christmas menu is for a minimum of 4 people Monday – Saturday; advanced booking is required. On Sunday’s, Folk will be running this Christmas special as their roast so it’s fine for just two people – the perfect date this winter!
A sharing menu is also available as part of the Christmas offering, which is priced at £18 per person with minimum of 6 people – perfect for groups celebrating the festive season. Plus, all guests at FOLK can now expect a constant supply of that most special of festive spirits, mulled wine.
What’s on?
Folk has a programme of events to bring together locals and put a smile on everyone’s face, whether you’re a family or a single about town. Their after School Klub now runs every Tuesday and Wednesday, where all little FOLK are invited to come and eat free between 3pm and 8pm (one child to one adult!)
For the grown-up’s, Happy Hour is available from Monday to Friday, from 4pm until 7pm. Trust me, you really don’t want to miss out on their cocktails, beers or delicious wine collection! They also host a series of Manchester’s finest DJs every Friday and Saturday evening, including the likes of Pasta Paul, Kickin’ Pigeon and Gareth James.
So, what are you waiting for?
Head on down to Folk to sample their new menu, meet the team and enjoy their programme of events. Winter is coming and we could all do with a treat to keep us warm and celebrate the fabulous community along Burton Road.
