Do these incredible independents need our support? Absolutely. The last few years have been a rollercoaster and consistency is everything. Here’s a simple, joyful challenge to keep our high street buzzing in 2025 and beyond.

Your five friendly pledges:

1. One small business treat a month. Put it in the diary so it actually happens – a bouquet, a book, a brew, a brownie.
2. Shift your timings. Lunchtimes and Mon–Wed can be quiet. If you can, pop in then – it makes a huge difference.
3. Host locally. Birthdays, baby showers, away-days – our venues have brilliant private rooms. 
4. Work from a café once a week. Buy your lunch there, write that proposal, and watch your productivity climb.
5. Complete the Burton Road Challenge. Visit every venue along the road this year. Share your progress on Instagram and tag @burton_road…
